ADD, ADHD

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder  or (ADHD) can manifest itself as inability or lack of desire to be attentive, and/or hyperactivity and impulsivity.

Usually affecting children under 12, and can continue to adulthood. It affects 2.2% to 17.8% of children and youth, ranking one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders. Among children with ADHD, almost 30% can continue to adulthood. 

Acupuncture can be added to any ADD or ADHD treatment plan. It is shown to help the body gain its balance, by reducing ADD or ADHD symptoms when specific acupuncture points are used to modify neurotransmitters of the brain and calm the hyperactivity, reduce fidgeting, enhance mood and attention.

A number of acupuncture points on the Heart or Pericardium and other meridians can positively influence the Serotonin and norepinephrine levels of the brain, so the person can focus better and function more efficiently.

There are acupuncture points on the forehead and DU meridian that can be used to calm the individual therefore hyperactivity can be managed better.

OCD or Obsessive-compulsive disorder can affect people of all walks of life and age.  millions of people. It may mildly affect the person in a form of sporadic obsessive thoughts, or to cause repetitive behavior or speech. In severe cased can cause paranoia, addiction or self-destructive behavior.

So many of us have had encounters with these obsessive thoughts, compulsive behavior, or we feel our minds are constantly busy and we can't function, to a degree that we may feel haunted and our lives are disrupted by it.

One study in 2013 has showed that acupuncture enables brain to release neuropeptides (molecules that allows effector cells and neurons to communicate) into the central nervous system.

Acupuncture on the Governor channel (DU Meridian) access points and KI meridian in conjunction with Pericardium and Heart meridian and/or Spleen meridian points can calm the mind, reduce the severity of OCD and influence the quality of life the individual in a positive manner, greatly.

Anxiety can be a contributing factor to ADD, ADHD and OCD. When an individual is anxious it will be hard for them to focus on a task, forget about their obsessive thought or stay calm and not to be hyperactive.

Acupuncture and herbal remedies for reduction of anxiety can play an important role in treatment of all the above conditions.
